Independent venues and performing arts organizations are economic multipliers, community builders, and beloved institutions that are at the heart of Tucson’s cultural and economic fabric. The devastation of these venues closing permanently would also impact the entire music economy and cultural ecosystem in America. We are respectfully asking you to support and cosponsor S. 4258, the Save Our Stages Act and S. 3814/H.R. 7481, the RESTART Act.

Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce
Independent venues, including several true jewels in the Wichita region, provide entertainment, culture, and economic activity in our communities. If our venues close permanently, this would negatively impact not only our economy but also our quality of place in the Wichita region. I urge you to support the Save Our Stages Act or similar legislation to help these venues survive.

On behalf of the arts and entertainment industries in Louisville, and specifically Kentucky Performing Arts, GLI supports inclusion of the Save our Stages Act (SOS) in the COVID relief bill. This proposal is specific to the arts and entertainment industry - an industry vital to Louisville's economic vitality. GLI also supports the RESTART Act, which would create more flexibility in the Paycheck Protection Program for businesses that have been hit the hardest by the pandemic.

Dear Senator Baldwin, Senator Johnson, Congressman Kind:
I am writing to urge your support of the inclusion of direct assistance to the live entertainment industry in the next round of federal COVID-19 economic recovery legislation. The RESTART Act (S.3814) is the first and only bipartisan legislation to provide relief for small and midsized live entertainment businesses through the rest of the year. This legislation is imperative to the live entertainment industry, which has been particularly devastated by the pandemic, due to the need of public support to ensure its long-term survival.
July 23, 2020
Dear Senator Baldwin, Senator Johnson: The RESTART Act, S.3814 adds flexibility to the Paycheck Protection Program for hospitality and entertainment organizations, and the Save Our Stages Act, S. 4258 would provide direct support to small music venues for the next six months. As the Senate considers makes decisions over the coming days about the next phase of federal relief efforts, we encourage consideration and incorporation of the provisions of these bills in the final legislation.

I write to you today on behalf of the myriad local businesses that have been devastated by COVID-19 to request your support for the RESTART Act, which would provide a crucial injection of aid and flexibility to Maryland’s most vulnerable businesses because they are entirely shuttered, with no revenue, all of their overhead and no visibility into when they can return to normal operations.
July 8, 2020
Some of our hardest-hit businesses, such as music venues who face some of the most uncertainty in reopening and exorbitant overhead costs, are still scrambling to stay afloat. Maryland’s businesses have been resilient and determined amidst this public health and economic crisis, but creative adaptations to their business models can only go so far and many are in desperate need of government relief.

Last year, we welcomed 17,000 people through our doors. We regularly partner with our local restaurants, bars, and hotels because we know if you want people to drive two hours to see your show, you need to help them find a place to stay and eat. These partnerships result in an economic impact of almost $1,000,000 annually to our rural community.

On a day-to-day basis, we directly represent our Local 99 membership, but often, and certainly right now, we work on behalf of the entire music community, a group that has been hit especially hard by COVID-19. All facets of the live music/venue realm of the music infrastructure and economy depend on each other.

Nearby restaurants, retail, and other businesses are lifted by the presence of these economic anchors such as in the Mississippi Street, Hollywood, and Alberta Street developments. Venues employ a lot of people and are essential to Oregon's long-term recovery. Please vote to support these venues when you have the opportunity.

Oregon is unique in that every one of the 77 venues in the state is independently owned and there are no outside corporate interests. These businesses, both for-profit and nonprofit, are "dedicated" institutions: their entire income derives from ticketed events. Supporting businesses like these venues will be crucial as local communities begin to recover.
